RENO, Nev. (AP) - A former Washoe County sheriff’s deputy faces a felony charge of misconduct after he allegedly sold sensitive information to a purported drug dealer.

The sheriff’s office says Andrew Casacca of Sparks was booked into the Washoe County jail on Thursday for suspicion of misconduct by a public officer.

KTVN-TV in Reno reported Friday (https://tinyurl.com/zlwhlas) that the investigation stems from activity that allegedly took place in March 2014. It cited a court affidavit that shows a joint investigation by the sheriff and the FBI produced evidence that Casacca took money from confidential sources in a drug investigation in exchange for providing license plate numbers and associated names

The sheriff’s office says Casacca was put on leave pending an internal investigation and resigned in December 2014.

His lawyer, Thomas Viloria, had no immediate comment.
