AUBURN, Wash. (AP) - Police have arrested the parents of a 4-month-old girl in Auburn who died Thursday.

Auburn Police officials said in a news release they responded to a call Thursday of CPR in progress on an infant. Authorities pronounced the girl dead at the scene.

Detectives interviewed the 24-year-old mother and 34-year-old father Thursday and took protective custody of 2-year-old twins who were also at the residence.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s office did an autopsy and found the baby was extremely malnourished, police said.

Police arrested the couple Friday on investigation of second-degree murder charges.

Authorities continue to investigate.
