STEVENS, Pa. (AP) - Police say a Facebook vigilante alerted them to a Pennsylvania child pornography suspect.

LNP (https://bit.ly/28Q9Kre ) reports East Cocalico Township police on Thursday announced charges against 23-year-old Michael Kovall, of Denver, Pennsylvania.

Police say Kovall was caught on video by a private citizen trying to chat with a Facebook user he thought was a 13-year-old girl. The user wasn’t really a young girl and a tipster alerted police.

Police say Kovall acknowledged he really believed the Facebook user was only 13, and also acknowledged viewing 50 child porn images over the last year. Police say they found 12 more images on his laptop.

Kovall’s defense attorney didn’t immediately return a call Friday.

Lancaster County prosecutors say they don’t advise people become Facebook vigilantes because “such behavior, if reckless, can be problematic.”
