BOSTON (AP) - A Suffolk County jail guard has pleaded not guilty to a charge of improper sexual conduct with a female inmate.

Marlon Juba was held on $20,000 cash bail at his arraignment Thursday.

Prosecutors say surveillance video from May 10 shows the 29-year-old Juba enter the inmate’s cell in the Suffolk County House of Corrections at South Bay. They say the video shows Juba exit the cell about 15 minutes later with his belt unbuckled. The inmate allegedly told authorities that she and Juba had sex while he was in her cell.

Juba’s attorney says his client was in good standing with the facility and had no criminal record.

Juba was suspended on June 3 pending the outcome of his case. He’s due back in court Aug. 23.
