HOUSTON (AP) - Police say a suspect in a 1979 fatal shooting in Texas has been captured in Ohio.
Houston police on Friday announced the arrest of 69-year-old Leon Dudley, who’d been living in Euclid, Ohio.
Dudley was charged with murder several days after the Nov. 3, 1979, slaying of 23-year-old Stephan Tramble Chambers during an argument in a parking lot.
Houston police says Dudley fled on a bus and remained at large until members of a law enforcement task force recently learned he was in Ohio. Dudley was arrested on a murder warrant and has waived extradition, awaiting transfer to Houston.
Police didn’t immediately provide additional information on the suspect.
Authorities say a 25-year-old man was wounded in the 1979 Houston gunfire. Charles Eugene Philleo died of natural causes in 1998.
