MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Visit Minot is coping with lower-than-anticipated revenues as it works to lure visitor and convention traffic to the area.

The Minot Daily News (https://bit.ly/28SYgnV) reports that the organization is adjusting for a $200,000 hit to its 2016 income.

The revised forecast accounts for declines in lodging and car rental taxes. The lodging tax brought in $806,000 for Visit Minot in 2015, but the updated number for this year is just $603,000. It peaked at over $1 million in 2013.

Phyllis Burckhard is executive director of Visit Minot. Burckhard says the organization is cutting back “substantially” in travel and advertising. A vacant staff position will also go unfilled at this time.

But Burckhard says Visit Minot is still working to draw events to the city.
