BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A 19-year-old Bismarck man charged with attempted murder has been ordered to undergo drug addiction treatment.

The Bismarck Tribune (https://bit.ly/28TLTWs ) reports South Central District Judge David Reich ordered the treatment for Trevor Peterson, but denied a request to immediately reconsider his bond.

Authorities accuse Peterson of firing a gun at a woman last month after he tried to sell drugs to her and a man outside of an apartment building.

Peterson allegedly punched the man in the face when they refused the offer, went inside the building and retrieved a handgun, which he fired into the air and at the woman. Nobody was hurt.

Defense attorney William Kirschner says the treatment facility is secure. He says his client was severely intoxicated when the incident happened.

Reich says he’ll review Peterson’s $100,000 bond after he finishes treatment.
