JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - A jury says a 35-year-old Fayetteville man acted in self-defense when he killed a Jonesboro man outside of a nightclub in 2013.

The Jonesboro Sun reports (https://bit.ly/28Va71T ) that a Craighead County jury deliberated for three hours before finding Timothy Joe Fields innocent Friday in the shooting death of 22-year-old Xavier White outside of Club En’Vision.

Prosecutor Grant Deprow says the case was complicated because Fields’ attorneys never denied their client shot White, so the task for jurors was determining whether Fields shot White out of self-defense.

Prosecutors maintained at trial that Fields pulled a gun out of his pocket and fired six shots when he saw White get out of the car.

But six witnesses who testified for the defense claimed Fields acted out of self-defense that night.
