PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Providence man has been charged in what police say was a random attack outside of a bar that left a man critically injured.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/28UH7u2) Luis Castillo-Estevez was arraigned Thursday after turning himself in to police.

The 20-year-old Castillo-Estevez is accused of punching 29-year-old Nathan Meyer in the face on June 12 outside of the Hot Club in Providence. Police say Meyer fell backward and hit his head, causing him to lose consciousness.

Witnesses told police the attacker, believed to be Castillo-Estevez, walked away before getting into a car with several other men.

Meyer remained hospitalized Friday in critical condition.

Police have not identified a motive for the attack.

Online court records did not list an attorney for Castillo-Estevez.
