BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A jury has found a man guilty in the 2013 shooting death of another man outside a restaurant in western Birmingham.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/294u6On) reports that 23-year-old Devaris Cornez Browning was found guilty Friday afternoon after a jury rejected his self-defense claim under the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law. Browning was convicted in the murder of Justin Golden outside Hong Kong Seafood.

Browning claimed last week that he shot Golden in self-defense. He testified that Golden had a gun, threatened to kill him, and admitted to fatally shooting one of his friend six months earlier.

The incident was caught on surveillance cameras outside and inside the restaurant.

Browning will be sentenced Aug. 12.

Browning’s cousin, Timothy Deevon Daniels, is charged with murder - aiding and abetting. A date for Daniels’ trial has not been set.
