FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Two Phoenix men are facing charges after authorities in northern Arizona say they shot and injured a man who was suspected of driving drunk.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office says Shane Tebo and Brandon Vongthongthip were traveling State Road 87 on Monday when they saw what they suspected was a drunken driver swerving behind them.

The men called police and tried to block the driver after he drove into a ditch.

One of the men tried to take the driver’s keys while the vehicle was still running. Tebo fired several rounds into the vehicle’s engine block after it moved forward. Vongthonthip then fired at the driver.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the men had attorneys.

The driver, Jesse Olsson of Payson, is in stable condition.

The investigation into the shooting and the suspected DUI is ongoing.
