ROYSE CITY, Texas (AP) - A semitrailer rig veered across a Texas expressway median, sweeping a car with it and slamming head-on into an oncoming semi, killing the drivers of each vehicle.

The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 30 on Royse City, about 50 miles northeast of Dallas. Capt. Greg Welch of the Rockwall county Sheriff’s Department said one 18-wheeler was westbound on the highway when for unclear reasons it veered into the eastbound lanes, taking a small car with it.

Killed were 38-year-old truck driver Guadalupe Garza of Lyford, Texas; 53-year-old truck driver Victor Bovkoun of Ontario, Canada and 56-year-old Kevin Battise of Mesquite. All were alone in their vehicles.

The crash closed the busy interstate for almost 11 hours.
