PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say three workers were injured when a sanitation truck crashed and flipped on its side in northeast Philadelphia.

Officials said the accident happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the Juniata Park neighborhood when the truck swerved to avoid a compact car.

Police said the truck flipped onto the driver’s side and then struck a traffic signal pole, a mailbox and the fence of a house.

A 39-year-old passenger from the truck was taken to Temple Medical Center in serious condition with forearm fractures and possible fractured ribs.

The 58-year-old driver and a 55-year-old passenger were listed in stable condition at the hospital.
