BELTON, Texas (AP) - A Central Texas grand jury has declined to indict five sheriff’s deputies in the fatal July 2014 shooting of a man who was reported to be threatening suicide.

The Bell County grand jury declined indictments Wednesday of Bell County sheriff’s deputies Robert Reinhard, Patrick Mullins, Brian Gowan, James Davis and Logan Henderson. The sheriff’s office released the men’s identities after the Temple Daily Telegram (https://bit.ly/299cOQZ) requested them under the state open records law.

They had gone to a house near Belton Lake after the report of a man threatening suicide and encountered 49-year-old Anthony Jay Foste, who brandished a shotgun. Investigators say Foste shot at them, so they fatally shot him..

No published telephone number could be found for Foste’s family. All five deputies have returned to active duty.
