NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Southern University System has named a search committee to screen and recommend final candidates for the position of chancellor for Southern University at New Orleans.

The 17 member committee is made up from a group of administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and stakeholders.

The search committee will assist in selecting a replacement for Victor Ukpolo (you-POH’-loh) who steps down June 30. Lisa Mims-Devezin, dean of the SUNO College of Arts and Sciences, will serve as interim chancellor.

The search team will be co-chaired by Charles Rice, CEO of Entergy New Orleans, and Gloria B. Moultrie, SUNO’s vice chancellor for community outreach and university advancement.

The search committee’s first meeting will be held on July 7.
