BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The Dakota Zoo in Bismarck has announced the birth of a baby male Bactrian camel.

Zoo officials say the calf was born Wednesday to mom Sadie and dad T.J. KXMB-TV (https://bit.ly/29dGXkf ) reports the calf will spend the day trying to stand up and eventually walk.

Bactrian camels have two humps and are critically endangered in the wild. There are fewer than 1,000 surviving wild camels.

Zoo officials say the calf is Sadie’s third baby.

The calf does not have a name yet. Officials say it will be sold or traded to another zoo when it grows up.
