JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A Union University student has been accused of soliciting four minors for sexual activity while he was working as a youth ministry intern at a Jackson church.

The Jackson Sun (https://bit.ly/292aurx ) reports that 21-year-old Heath Ransom was indicted by a Madison County grand jury on Monday on 27 counts, including 13 counts of solicitation of a minor.

Authorities believe the incidents occurred while Ransom was an intern at Englewood Baptist Church. He began working there are spring 2015.

Englewood Executive Pastor Paul Priddy says Ransom was fired in early May after an internal investigation by the church. He said in a news release that the church notified police of the facts church officials learned during their internal investigation.

Ransom was released from custody Tuesday. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
