ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Police say a man suspected of stealing a vehicle in North Texas has died after being hit by another vehicle while fleeing on foot.

Arlington police say the man died Tuesday night after being hit.

Police say the man was confronted by the person whose vehicle he was accused of stealing. Police say he then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police say the man jumped down an embankment and ran across the State Highway 360’s northbound lanes of traffic, where he was struck.

The man was pronounced dead on scene. The northbound lanes were shut down for hours while police investigated.
