PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia-area doctor accused of trading painkillers for cash and sex has been convicted of illegally distributing prescription painkillers with the help of the Pagan motorcycle gang.

Philly.com (https://bit.ly/295CUoE ) reports Dr. William O’Brien III was also convicted of supplying drugs to a man who died in 2013, which alone carries a mandatory 20-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors say O’Brien offered an undercover FBI agent Xanax pills in exchange for sex acts, and propositioned strippers for sex in exchange for drugs.

O’Brien represented himself and claimed the witnesses against him were lying.

O’Brien will remain jailed until he’s sentenced Oct. 5. The case was so complicated, and included convictions on money laundering and bankruptcy fraud, that it took the jury two hours to read its verdict Tuesday after a 23-day trial.
