ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Authorities are searching for an inmate who was mistakenly released from the Rapides Parish Detention Center.

Sheriff William Earl Hilton tells The Town Talk (https://townta.lk/292s8jq) 24-year-old Dalvin Devonte Hinkston, of Alexandria, was released inadvertently Tuesday due to an error in paperwork.

Hilton says Hinkston had have been in jail since May 16 on charges of attempted second-degree murder and home invasion.

Based on the charges, the sheriff says Hinkston should be considered dangerous.

The circumstances of Hinkston’s release are under investigation.
