SEARCY, Ark. (AP) - Police say a 4-month-old boy from west Texas has died while in the care of his great-aunt and her husband in Searcy.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/291GdcB ) reports that 55-year-old Jeff High and 57-year-old Dianna O’Bryan have been arrested on charges of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor with conduct creating the risk of death or serious injury.

Authorities found the infant dead inside an apartment unit around 11 a.m. Saturday during a welfare check.

The body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory to determine the cause of death. Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Hernandez says the couple’s charges could be upgraded after the test results.

The couple remained at the White County jail on $10,000 bond Tuesday. They’re set to appear in court individually Aug. 2.

It wasn’t immediately clear if they have a lawyer.
