BUFORD, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a threat made in an online gaming chat room to shoot up the Mall of Georgia.

Gwinnett County police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera tells local news media Wednesday that the boy is charged with harassing communications. Police say the threat was made Tuesday afternoon and someone in the chatroom alerted authorities after threats were made.

Uniformed as well as undercover officers were dispatched to the Mall of Georgia.

Officials declared the mall was not in immediate danger after police identified the teen.
