DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - The trial against a former Danbury High School science teacher charged with having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student has been delayed.

The News-Times (https://bit.ly/293Vjj9 ) reports that lawyers were expected to make their opening arguments Tuesday in the case against 25-year-old Kayla Mooney. But the judge says a juror can’t serve due to a work conflict. The trial is expected to begin Wednesday.

Mooney was charged in March 2015 with second-degree sexual assault and providing alcohol to a minor after an investigation into a complaint she made to school officials that she was being harassed by the boy’s girlfriend.

Police say the boy told them about the sexual relationship, and they confirmed parts of his story after obtaining emails between him and Mooney.
