BERNALILLO, N.M. (AP) - Two people were killed in a head-on collision on Interstate 25 just north of Albuquerque in what New Mexico State Police say was a wrong-way accident.

The State Police said a vehicle traveling northbound in northbound lanes collided head-on Friday morning with a vehicle traveling southbound.

The accident occurred near the Algodones exit at about 5 a.m. It closed northbound I-25 for hours.

Identities of the victims were not released and no additional information on the vehicles or the circumstances of the accident are immediately available.

The State Police said its crash construction unit is investigating the crash.
