CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona company plans to create a 2,360-acre recreational motorsports park near Casa Grande.

Danrick Builders of Chandler wants the park, Attesa, to become an economic engine for Pinal County and offer educational partnerships to help universities conduct automotive research and development, reported The Casa Grande Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1r5QdcY ).

Attesa will feature two separate 2.8-mile road courses, a karting track, a driver experience center and a multi-surface racing and event area, according to Danrick Builders. The company said the park will also have a private airport with a 6,000-foot runway.

It will be designed by London-based race track engineering firm Apex Circuit Design, said Danrick Builders.

“Attesa will be an optimal racing entertainment destination that will draw guests from all over the world, driving new jobs and contributing taxes to local economies,” said Dan Erickson, principal of Danrick Builders. “We’ll combine speed, luxury experiences and motorsports opportunities for individuals from all walks of life.”

The company said it plans to create long-term jobs for the region by drawing from graduates of Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and the state’s community colleges.

The county is “100 percent behind this project,” said Tim Kanavel, program manager for Pinal County Economic Development. “The Attesa community will be a complement to the nearby Nissan and Volkswagen test tracks. We are creating the center of automotive excellence in Arizona and that will be right here in Pinal County.”

He said the motorsports park will also boost tourism to the region.
