CINCINNATI (AP) - The Washington Nationals have recalled infielder Trea Turner from Triple-A Syracuse and placed first baseman Ryan Zimmerman on the paternity list.

Turner is the organization’s second-ranked prospect. The 22-year-old Turner is hitting .310 with 13 doubles, five triples and three home runs in 50 games for Syracuse.

One of the top prospects in baseball, Tuner leads the International League with 38 runs scored and 17 stolen bases and ranks second with 61 hits.

Zimmerman can be on the paternity list for up to three days. His wife, Heather, gave birth to their second child on Thursday.

The Nationals are off Monday, so Zimmerman could return Tuesday when they visit the Chicago White Sox. The 31-year-old player is hitting .250 this season with eight home runs and 26 RBIs.
