NEW YORK (AP) - Police say two teenage girls have been arrested on assault charges and are accused of attacking a 78-year-old woman inside a New York City subway station.

The two girls, ages 15 and 16, were arrested Friday on felony assault charges. It wasn’t immediately clear if they had attorneys who could comment on the allegations.

The attack happened Thursday inside the Franklin Avenue subway station in Brooklyn.

Police said the two girls punched and kicked the woman in her face, head and body.
