SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say a skydiver has died after his parachute collapsed into itself.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release the incident was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The sheriff’s office says nine people were skydiving at the time and did a standard jump from 13,000 feet.

A 28 year-old man was reportedly practicing advanced maneuvers and attempted what was described as an aggressive turn, when his parachute apparently collapsed into itself.

The sheriff’s office says he landed hard and someone nearby attempted CPR.

Medics arrived on scene shortly after and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The man’s identity as well as cause and manner of death will be released by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
