HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A construction worker was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after he fell more than 60 feet when scaffolding collapsed at a work site in Hartford.

Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials say the 47-year-old employee of Total Wall Systems Inc. was on a “rolling scaffold” when it fell off a building at the Hartford Hospital site around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

Officials say the victim was unconscious after the fall.

Construction worker Bruce Frosolone tells The Hartford Courant that the collapse made a loud noise that sounded like debris being thrown into a dumpster. He says he didn’t know anyone was hurt until he started hearing sirens.

Hospital spokeswoman Rebecca Stewart says Hartford Hospital, OSHA and the construction contractor are investigating the accident.
