PHOENIX (AP) - Federal authorities say an Arizona sex offender has been extradited to Phoenix after being arrested in Mexico.

U.S. Marshals Service officials say 48-year-old Clifford Ivey was taken into custody Wednesday in Mazatlan, Sinaloa.

Ivey was wanted by Phoenix police for failing to register as a sex offender and the Mohave County Adult Probation department for violating conditions of his probation.

Ivey was on probation after having been convicted of attempt to commit sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities say Ivey is a convicted sex offender who violated his probation in 2012 by possessing child pornography while also facing theft allegations.

He subsequently fled the address at which he last registered as a sex offender.

Ivy was booked into a Phoenix jail Thursday. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer yet.
