KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) - Plow crews are working to clear the last of 19 avalanches and rock slides after a round of storms dumped heavy rain and snow on the mountains lining the alpine route on Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

Park spokesman Tim Rains says rain has been hampering plowing on the east side of the park, but the route to the Big Drift should be open this weekend.

According to the Daily Inter Lake (https://tinyurl.com/zllarw2 ), the opening day on the route to Logan Pass may be pushed back to mid- to late June.

Raines says a vehicle closure on the west side is expected to last through the weekend.
