TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Border Patrol says two kids were among a group of immigrants being smuggled in the trunk of a sedan when agents found them at a checkpoint on Interstate 19 south of Tucson.

Agents found migrants in trunks of two cars within an hour of each other on Wednesday.

In the first case, agents referred a four-door sedan for secondary inspection and found three people in the trunk of the car. One was a 16-year-old Mexican migrant.

Less than an hour later, agents stopped another sedan and found four Guatemalans, two of whom were under the age of 14.

This came as southern Arizona began to see temperatures rising. Agents say trunks are significantly hotter than it is outside and that hiding in them poses a great safety risk.
