UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Tiffany Hayes scored 23 points, Angel McCoughtry added 21 points and eight rebounds and the Atlanta Dream beat the Connecticut Sun 83-77 on Friday night for their fifth straight victory.

McCoughtry hit a long jumper from the wing to extend Atlanta’s lead to 75-67 with 1:27 left and made a steal on Connecticut’s next possession, leading to Hayes’ fast-break layup.

Alex Bentley’s 3-point play pulled Connecticut to 77-73 with 41 seconds left but Atlanta made 6 of 8 free throws to seal it.

Carla Cortijo added 13 points and Elizabeth Williams had 11 for Atlanta (6-1). McCoughtry was 10 of 16 from the field, and Hayes sank 11 of 13 free throws.

Alex Bentley scored 16 points for Connecticut (1-6). The Sun have lost five in a row.

LIBERTY 91, FEVER 59

NEW YORK (AP) - Sugar Rodgers made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points to help New York beat Indiana Fever in a rematch of the Eastern Conference finals.

Tina Charles added 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists for New York. The Liberty (3-3) ended a three-game skid.

New York inserted Swin Cash into the starting lineup for the first time this season. The veteran forward finished with nine points for the Liberty. She signed with the team May 24.

Leading 28-26 midway through the second quarter, New York closed the half with a 14-3 run to take a 42-29 advantage at the break. Shavonte Zellous capped the run when she was fouled by Erica Wheeler just before the halftime buzzer and made all three free throws.

Indiana (3-4) couldn’t get within single digits in the second half.

SKY 98, MYSTICS 72

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Elena Delle Donne had 18 points, six rebounds and six assists and Chicago built a 24-point halftime lead in the victory over Washington.

Cappie Pondexter added 16 points for the Sky (4-4).

Chicago went on a 14-3 run in the first quarter for a 22-9 lead and led by double figures the rest of the game. The Sky held a 60-36 lead at halftime behind 10 points apiece from Delle Donne and Jessica Breland. Chicago made 24 of 38 field goals and hit all 10 of its free-throw attempts in the half.

Allie Quigley added 16 points in 19 minutes to help Chicago win its third straight game.

Emma Meesseman led Washington (2-6) with 13 points.

STORM 95, MERCURY 81

SEATTLE (AP) - Jewell Loyd scored a career-high 32 points and Breanna Stewart had 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to help Seattle beat Phoenix.

Loyd was 12 of 18 from the field, highlighted by an acrobatic layup on a fast break give-and-go with Stewart for an 86-71 lead. It was Loyd’s second 30-plus game against Phoenix this season.

Sue Bird and Jenna O’Hea scored 14 points apiece for Seattle (3-4).

Penny Taylor made six 3-pointers and finished with 19 points for Phoenix (2-5). Brittney Griner had 13 points and six rebounds.
