HAVELOCK, N.C. (AP) - Law enforcement officials in eastern North Carolina are looking for a man who disappeared after leading sheriff’s deputies on a two-county chase.

Local media outlets report Carteret County deputies encountered a stolen car which was already being pursued by Havelock police on Wednesday. The car was reported stolen from Hartsville, South Carolina.

Havelock Police Chief David Magnusson said a female passenger was either pushed or fell out of the car and was injured. Also during the 20-mile chase, the car two Carteret County sheriff’s cruisers.

Warrants have been issued for 42-year-old Damon Evan Kennedy, who faces a number of charges including assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a government official. Authorities say Kennedy abandoned the car on N.C. Highway 58 after two of its tires went flat.
