PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say an 11-year-old boy died after he was hit by an SUV during a camping trip with his family in southern Colorado.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports (https://goo.gl/pQuJKU ) Lan Lasher, of Calhan, was hit Wednesday on a county road that runs through the foothills on the north end of the San Luis Valley. He died at a hospital in Salida.

Investigators say the boy might have been distracted or did not see the SUV when he ran into the road.

The 19-year-old driver and his passenger stopped and tried to help Lan.

Investigators do not believe speeding, drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
