FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A 1,000-foot water slide is coming to Florence this weekend.

The TimesDaily reports (https://bit.ly/29hRisk) a company called Slide the City will transform a section of Poplar Street into the giant slip-and-slide Saturday.

Company owner Spencer Hunn says he scouts cities that would be good locations for his slide. Hunn says the company started on an experimental basis in 2014. In 2015, the attraction toured over 70 cities. It’s touring more than 100 this year.

Prices vary depending on whether riders register ahead of time, and the amount of times they want to ride.

Hunn recommends wearing a bathing suit, sunscreen and shoes and bringing a towel. Riders must be at least 5 years old and 46 inches tall to ride.

Information on tickets for the event is available at shoalslocal.com.
