OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Investigators are searching for a vehicle involved in a police chase that ended with a California Highway Patrol cruiser crashing into parked cars in Oakland.

KTVU-TV reports (https://bit.ly/297MF7r ) that the cruiser hit a fire hydrant, light pole and three parked cars early Thursday after pursuing a four-door sedan from up Interstate 580 from Dublin to the surface streets of Oakland.

Officials say a passenger in the suspect’s vehicle began spraying officers with what was believed to be a fire extinguisher during the pursuit, perhaps in hopes of distracting the officers.

Two officers were inside the cruiser when it crashed but they were not hurt.
