CHINA, Maine (AP) - Officials in a Maine town have approved plans to build a community solar farm next to state Route 32.

The Morning Sentinel (https://bit.ly/294I18Z ) reports that the China planning board on Tuesday approved a plan by New England solar energy company ReVision Energy to build the farm on an uncultivated field.

The company had originally planned for up to 150 panels that would generate 50 kilowatts of energy. But it had asked the board to authorize the project’s expansion.

The new plan calls for up to 650 panels that would generate up to 200 kilowatts of energy for as many as nine owners. The modules will cover up to 12,000 square feet of land.

The company’s engineer says it expects to complete the project by the fall.
