NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a speeding driver lost control of his Porsche and fatally struck a 21-year-old woman walking on the sidewalk in Queens and injured several others before fleeing on foot.

It happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of the Horace Harding Expressway service road and Junction Boulevard in Elmhurst.

Police say the Porsche had jumped the sidewalk, hit a tree before striking the pedestrian and a 26-year-old female bicyclist. The car then collided with two vehicles waiting at a traffic light.

Police say the woman was taken to a hospital where she died. The bicyclist was treated for pain to her head and shoulder. The drivers of the two vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Police are still searching for the driver of the Porsche.
