BENTON, La. (AP) - Incoming Bossier Parish Schools Superintendent Scott Smith has appointed a new assistant superintendent of administration.

The Times reports (https://bit.ly/1XXaGh0 ) Smith selected Benton High Schools’ principal Mitch Downey during the school board’s regular meeting Thursday.

The new assistant superintendent has served as principal for four years. Downey says the new position will allow him to continue helping the district expand and he’ll be able to work side-by-side with Smith.

Smith says Teri Howe, who is currently serving as an assistant principal at Benton High, will become the school’s new principal starting July 1.
