WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - The Fort Buford State Historic Site near Williston has launched a new exhibit chronicling the contribution of African American soldiers on the frontier.

The Buffalo Soldiers at Fort Buford exhibit includes photos of the soldiers along with information about their time at Fort Buford. Buffalo Soldiers were units made up African American soldiers that served in the U.S. Army after the Civil War.

On June 12, the historic site will be hosting an open house honoring the 150th Anniversary of the start of construction of Fort Buford. The event runs from 2-5 p.m.
