WILMINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - Hundreds of bicycles will be on roads and trails in the northeastern Adirondacks this weekend for the seventh annual Wilmington Whiteface Bikefest and mountain bike race.

Cyclists competing in Sunday’s 69-mile race starting and ending at Whiteface Mountain may qualify for a spot in the prestigious 100-mile Leadville 100 race in the Colorado Rockies.

There are also other competitions Saturday and Sunday, including an 11-mile uphill race on the Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway.

Some local roads and highways including Route 86 will be closed at times between 7 and 11 a.m. Sunday in Keene, Jay, Lewis, Elizabethtown and Wilmington during the bike race.
