DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Those looking to catch a few fish in Iowa this weekend can do so free of charge.

Iowa residents may fish without a license on through Sunday as part of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources free fishing weekend.

The event allows Iowans to try fishing without purchasing a license. All other regulations remain in place.

Fun, hands-on fishing events will also be offered across Iowa to teach parents or kids the basics of fishing. A list of fishing clinics, derbies and other fun events is available on the special events application system on the department’s website at https://programs.iowadnr.gov/specialevents/ .
