PITTSBURGH (AP) - A man has been charged in western Pennsylvania with homicide in the death of an elderly funeral home operator whose body was reported on fire in his Pittsburgh home.

Pittsburgh public safety officials said fire crews were to a home in the Allentown neighborhood at about 11:30 a.m. Friday after “a report that a man was on fire.”

Firefighters found the body of 83-year-old John Connors on the second floor. An autopsy indicated that he died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Public safety officials said 24-year-old Jawwaad Ali was charged later Friday with homicide. Police said they believe Ali had been staying at the home.

Court documents don’t list an attorney representing Ali and a listed number in his name couldn’t be found Saturday.
