PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities continue to warn Arizonans about the dangers of the excessive heat this weekend.

Temperatures in Phoenix will range from 112 degrees to 118 degrees with peak heat on Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for southeast California and southern Arizona as well.

Other western and southwestern U.S. states are experiencing above-normal temperatures in the triple-digits.

It’s crucial to stay hydrated and avoid the outdoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when temperatures are highest.

The Arizona Department of Health also says that neither people nor pets should be left in cars. It takes only 10 minutes for a car to reach deadly temperatures.
