PARKER, Ariz. (AP) - A Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department officer has shot and killed a man carrying a knife.

The Havasu News in Lake Havasu City reports (https://goo.gl/DPW1F1) the department said the officer shot the man Friday night after the man ignored orders to drop his weapon.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Colorado River Indian Tribes Police notified the Federal Bureau of Investigations, which is investigating the shooting.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of the suspect shot or the officer in the shooting.
