CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - The Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry will soon move to a new location, thanks to the help of some local construction students.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1r8tm0j ) that the Coralville City Council agreed last year to lease the city’s old post office to the nonprofit free of charge, but the building needed extensive remodeling.

That’s where the 25 Kirkwood Community College students taking construction classes come in. The students have torn down and rebuilt walls, painted and will soon install doors.

Construction instructor Steve Hanisch says the hands-on work is the best way to teach construction skills.

Pantry workers hope to make the move to the new site sometime in July.
