WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - A longtime staple of the MonDak Heritage Center in Sidney, Montana, is returning to Fort Union near Williston.

The Minot Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1TYnWPQ ) that the model of historic Fort Union has been part of the Fort Union Room in the lower level of the museum since 1984. It was created in 1964 by a group of eighth graders.

In 2015, discussions about the model began between Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site park rangers and the MonDak Heritage Center. The rangers thought it could be used as an educational tool for programs, as well as in future exhibits.

Fort Union’s park ranger and museum curator came to the MonDak to pick up the replica last month.
