COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police say a Columbus police officer was critically hurt in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 71.

It happened in Ohio’s capital city late Sunday night. Police say the officer had been in a personal vehicle.

The officer, whose identity wasn’t immediately available, was taken to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.

Traffic headed southbound on the interstate was being diverted off of Cooke Road due to the crash.
