INDIANA, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a car crash that severely injured the driver, killed one passenger and hurt three others.

State police say 21-year-old Luke White was killed when a car driven by his friend, 21-year-old Matthew Pommer, hit a tree after failing to round a curve at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday. The crash happened in Conemaugh Township, near the men’s hometown of Saltsburg.

Police say Pommer suffered major injuries and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

Two passengers walked away with moderate injuries and were found by emergency crews in some nearby woods. Another injured passenger, 20-year-old Ian South, of New Alexandria, was thrown from the car and flown to UPMC Presbyterian.

Police expect him and Pommer to survive.
